Reflections and Goals (17/18)

Happy New Years!

It’s a new year! Fresh start! I want this year to be filled with attainable goals and actually, do them. I want to share what I am reflecting on for 2017 and what I want to be doing for 2018. I am putting myself out there so I will be more accountable for my goals. Also remembering and reflecting what I wrote and thought during these times will help me to keep me on the path this year. Mind you though, these areas are not the ONLY things I am working on but ones I want to focus on shall I say.

CAREER (Work, Volunteering, Education)

I’ve managed to work two jobs (one full time, and one part-time) for a full year in 2017 and I don’t know if it was a smart or a foolish thing to do but I am glad it is coming to an end. It’s bittersweet as well because I have been with the organization for 4 years, but I am ready to take on a new challenge for 2018 by working on my personal projects and to look for other on-call jobs.

I volunteered for 2017 and it was a great way to meet new people, to learn new skills, and to try something different, but in 2018, I might consider looking for something different within the same organization.

In 2017, I’ve been thinking of pursuing additional education but I was feeling really lost and stuck. Now in 2018, I am thinking of doing more schooling to boost up my career and I am hoping it will work out but I haven’t decided on anything specific yet. Because I am uncertain which paths I should take, I am in the process of meeting professionals who work in the industry through my network to get more information.

CHALLENGES (#myfirsts)

In 2017, I participated Tough Mudder Half and it was something I should have given myself more credit so yeah!! I participated in it!! If you are curious how I did and if you are interested in participating yourself, I wrote a post on what to expect and what to bring to help you to have a smoother run.

In 2018, I would like to search for another training or an activity that I haven’t tried it, yet, so that is my goal for this year. Try something new and different!

In 2017, to help myself and my sister train for the Tough Mudder Half,  we followed the workouts that were recommended by the website. We tried working out any days that were available and because of this, all the time that was available went to the gym. Even though it was great for my fitness, other areas flustered.

In 2018, I decided to workout 4 days a week and avoiding not working out for more than 2 days and to eat healthier to replace not working out more than that.

I don’t usually snack but if it’s in front of me, my hands will dip into the bags of chips like no other. I have a couple of favorite candies and sweets that I will go for, and for 2017, I tried really hard not to consume them and I stopped buying them for the most part. Out of sight out of mind. I still can’t say no to some sour candies 😉

For 2018, I’ve decided to consume less meat and dairy, especially, milk to start. It’s been a couple of months so far, even though I have had cravings and urges to consume them, I reminded myself of the reasons why I did it in the first place. I am currently having some health issues, so I am seeing if this diet will make a difference. Again, I am not eliminating 100% because I don’t want to be too hard and to put pressure on myself, but I believe reducing is still better than nothing, so this is what I will stick to it for now.

In 2017,  I blogged at least once a month on average. There were some months I didn’t blog at all, and some months, I posted more than once, so on average, it’s been once a month. For 2018, I want to up the goal by posting twice a month. I know this can be seen as a sub-par goal compared to many of you, but I am focused on having smaller and attainable goals.

In 2017, for YouTube, I’ve partnered up with a co-worker, Alina, to make YouTube videos on fashion, makeup, and other random ideas; however, they flustered, because of our conflicting schedules. But for 2018, our schedules have cleared up (we both don’t have permanent weekend work anymore) we can then focus more on creating videos.

In 2017, I picked up a guitar and coding last year and started practicing, but after a couple of months, my practice time started to dwindle. In 2018, I want to make my practices more of a regular thing and I will practice them once a week and if I can accomplish that, I will increase the frequency.

I’ve always used a planner to put in appointments and important notes but in  2018, I will look at the planner and assess it every week. I will be more meticulous about recording especially with my spending, and my eating, although I find meal planning is a bit tough.

Anyways, I’ve purchased two planners, “The Happiness Planner” and “Making it Happen” ( I am gettin real serious here) but I still haven’t received them. When I do, and if I like it, I will make a review. Please leave a comment down below if you are interested. I will also be more meticulous about writing my spending.

WELLNESS TOOLS (Meditation, Journaling, and something FUN)

In 2017, I’ve started to meditate using this free app. and I have been doing it almost everyday. It’s free and there are a lot of different types such as guided or music, so I highly recommend. In 2018, I will continue using this app and to continue to meditate in the morning and at night. I recommend to people who have a hard time sleeping and if you like to hear something soothing or white noise to drift you off to sleep, this app will work wonders.  Well, it works for me.

I journaled once a month on average (I am being completely honest here!!) but in 2018, I will journal at least once a week.

For fun, I want to continue to travel and to look for fun and exciting activities to do this year! I went to a play with my family last year and that was super fun. Trying and enjoying new experiences are one of my top goals this year so I will continue to look for it. TO LIVE WITH INTENTIONS!!!!

So these are my big but humble goals for this year so far. Things may change and I will be ready to be flexible to those changes but at least something is there.

Also, there is so many self-help and wellness tools and tips out there in the blogosphere, I am going to try them and to write my experiences down for review. If interested, please leave a comment down below.

I haven’t done a make up post in a while so I will be coming up with a review of a lip product which I used it everyday for a whole month in December 2017.

Please let me know what you intend to do or what your goals for the year 2018?

Hope everyone had a great holiday and happy new year again!
